While laser tattoo removal can hurt, chances are it won't hurt as much as getting the tattoo did. Tattoo removal pain is comparable to the pain of a bad sunburn, and the laser pulses feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin. Cringe-worthy, yes, but tolerable.
It's a very slow process – 10 or more sessions may be needed to remove the tattoo. many tattoos cannot be completely removed – it's quite common to have some ink left in the skin. some colours do not fade as well as others.
For the best results, it is recommended to wait at least eight weeks after getting a new tattoo to begin the laser tattoo removal process. If you are willing to wait longer than eight weeks, that would give even better results because it will give the tattoo more time to heal.
